University Profile & Legislative Framework
The CMJ University was established under the provisions of the CMJ University Act, 2009 passed by the Meghalaya State Legislature.
Statutory Foundation & Act
CMJ University was established by an Act of the Meghalaya State Legislature (Act No. 4 of 2009), assented to by the Governor of Meghalaya on 18th July 2009 and gazetted on 20th July 2009. The University is established under Section 2(f) of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956.
The University was conceptualized to impart professional, vocational, science, technology, management, and doctoral education to students from North-East India as well as scholars across the country and overseas.

University Administration & Governance
The governance structure of CMJ University is established pursuant to the statutory provisions of the Act, comprising the Board of Governors, Board of Management, Academic Council, and Finance Committee. The University maintains transparency in admissions, rigorous evaluation systems, and statutory adherence.
